On the sidelines of the consultation of DICT for the National ICT Development Agenda, IECEP National Vice President for External Affairs, Engr. Benjz Gerard Sevilla, joined by his Co-Chair of the Corporate and External Relations Committee, also from DICT, Engr. Gemma Baysic, as well as Committee Member Engr. Michael Stephen Gorospe met with representatives of the Internet Society - Philippine Chapter (ISOC PH) and the Foundation for Media Alternatives (FMA) for an MOU with IECEP on various initiatives related to internet governance, cybersecurity, and privacy, as well as multi-stakeholder policy-making, among others.

It can be recalled that the Philippines is set to celebrate the 30th year of being connected to the Internet next year, and IECEP with the MOU shall join various organizations in the upcoming commemoration activities as part of its contribution.

ISOC and FMA are development partners of DICT and have long since been active advocates for various reforms in the ICT and Telecommunications industry in the Philippines, providing insights to various DICT programs such as National Broadband, eGovernment, and National ICT Ecosystem. With this, IECEP stands to benefit from the partnership as members will have the opportunity to immerse in policy-making, government-led consultations, and strategy development for the ICT sector of the country.

Several fellowships and grants are likewise available in the field, which ISOC and FMA regularly provide guidance to, including advocacy on youth engagements, rural connectivity, and community networks.

Mabuhay IECEP!
